Get Involved!
Enrichment
If you want to extend your skills or get involved in new and different activities, there will be an enrichment activity for you! There is something for everyone. Each term there are new and exiting enrichment classes to choose from.
Enrichment classes run from 2.30 pm—3.30 pm. The school buses run at 3:30pm as well, so that all students can attend.
As well as trying something new, there are also lots of departments who run enrichment activities to support your learning, so if you need help with your maths or you are struggling to understand some of the topics covered in other lessons, there will always be extra support; please, just ask!
Anti-bulling Ambassadors
The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors are a group of students who have been trained by The Diana Award Anti-Bullying Campaign. Their role is to help educate their peers on bullying, lead on anti-bullying campaigns, promote a culture which celebrates and tolerates difference and helps keep their peers safe both online and offline. If this is something you are interested in, you are welcome to get involved and help make a difference.
Student Voice
What is Student Voice?
Student Voice is a vehicle that enables students to become more involved in the structure of the Academy and the wider community. At Outwood Academy Portland, Student Voice is seen as an effective way to help transform education from the students' point of view, through student input into Deep Learning, Deep Support and Deep Experience. Student Voice is a fantastic opportunity to help the academy to continue to improve to be outstanding.
What does Student Voice involve?
If you join Student Voice you will be involved in regular meetings with teachers and other students, designing and implementing new ideas which will improve the experience for all. For example, last year our team designed a new look Sports Day!
Who leads Student Voice?
Student Voice is led by the Student Voice Prime Minister, this is a role for which students can put themselves forward. The Student Voice Prime Minister is democratically voted for and subsequently elected by every single student at Outwood Academy Portland. You’ll be supported by a staff member who is part of the Deep Learning team should you wish to stand for election.
What are the Student Voice Awards?
Each year Outwood Academy Portland hosts the Student Voice Awards, where staff, students and parents come together to celebrate the achievements of our students and the exciting events that have taken place that year.
